Instituted by Hitler on September 28,1941.In Gold for combat personnel and Silver non-combatant.Since the German Cross is a large decoration, many soldiers preferred wearing it in a cloth variation. The wool backing material is gray for the Luftwaffe and SS. Cross is absolutely mint condition, unmarked. All cloth versions was a private purchase,weighing 8.2 grams.
