The new Third Reich-era marksmanship Lanyards were introduced in June 1936. There were twelve grades awarded for proficiency with rifles and machine guns, along with antitank,antiaircraft,artillery and tank guns. The Lanyard could be worn by NCO'S and enlisted personnel on their parade, reporting, walking-out and guard dress uniforms. The Shield end of the Lanyard was secured to the uniforms second front button. In October 1938 personnel in Panzer units were authorized a new distinctive Shield for the three grades. Constructed of toned feinzink,affixed with all four attachment prongs to a Lanyard constructed of multiple rows of twisted and rolled silver aluminium wire, unmarked,measuring 41.72mm(w)x 56.81mm(h),the Lanyard 46cm in length, in extremely fine condition.
