On all WAGNER pieces the inscription "14 Loth "indicates a measurement of 875 fine silver parts per 1000."Loth"is a pre-metric German commercial unit of weight used with silver coins. To reach the complete 1000 parts, alloys such as nickel were added. Each Loth equals 62.5 parts silver, 16 Loth is pure silver. The standard for the Iron Cross was 14 Loth.
