Overall length 16 1/4". Single wide blade with a saw back & blunted tip,crossguard has an oval with the German Red Cross insignia on the front, blade has minor patches of discoloration. Hilt shows light to moderate wear,grips are undamaged. Hewer remains in an overall extremely fine condition. The Red Cross Enlisted Ranks Hewer was introduced in 1938 and was permitted for use by low-ranking DRK personnel.Since the DRK had to uphold the the Geneva Convention, its members were not allowed to carry pointed edged weapons.
