The High Seas Fleet War Badge was designed by one of its principal manufacturers, the firm of Adolf Bock, Berlin,at the direction of the Commander-in-Chief of the Navy, Grand Admiral Raeder,and was instituted on 30 April 1941,and was intended to be primarily in recognition of the sea struggle against England. Crew members of battleships and cruisers who served for a period of 12 weeks at sea, or others who were connected with High Seas Fleet in a capacity for which there was no War Badge were authorized to receive the Award.
