Excellent matching cased set Blockade Runners Badge, constructed of silvered and patinated zinc,marked on reverse "Schwerin, Berlin" and designer "Otto Placzek,Berlin",accompanied by matching half-size miniature stickpin and original presentation case, the lid of the case bears no designation as to award. A merchant ship breaking through a binding chain depicting the efforts of the merchantmen of the German Merchant Marine and Navy who attempted to break through the sea Blockade imposed by the British. Badge was instituted on 1 April 1941 by order of Hitler,the first award was rendered on 1 July 1941.
