Marksmanship Lanyards were introduced on June 29,1936. They were worn by Enlisted Men and NCO'S, not by Officers. They were worn with more formal uniforms over the right side of the chest up to the lower part of the right shoulder. These Lanyards were based on a soldier's level of skill with a weapon. We are offering a First pattern Marksmanship Lanyard, Grade One,featuring an insignia consisting of a pebbled shield bearing a raised Heer- style German National eagle clutching a mobile swastika, with each end completing in a loop for uniform attachment, unmarked, the shield measuring 30mm(w) x 38mm(h),the Lanyard approximately 445mm in length, with minor material fatigue evident to the silver aluminum wire,in overall near extremely fine condition.
