The Order of the Red Star was the most commonly awarded Soviet military Order for valor and service,with almost four million issued. Instituted in 1930 as the third and lowest award of the Soviet Union the Red Star was bestowed up to 1991 when the Soviet Union ceased to exist. The Order of the Red Star is a five-pointed silver star with red enamel on each arm,approximately 45mm.in diameter with a silver disc in the center and A Soviet soldier with a rifle stands upon the disc with the words, "Workers of the World Unite",the order weighs 28.3 grams without screwplate, with plate 36.7 grams.
