Early silver-plated Tombac War Merit Cross with swords by Deschler.Reverse view of the Deschler Cross showing the distinctive swollen middle portion to the pin typically used by this firm, and its supplier code "1" Early production War Merit Crosses were die-struck in Tombac and silver-plated. The hinge blocks were generally machined from a single block of metal and separately soldered to the reverse of the cross. Rarer,and more desirable vaulted and fully detailed case, excellent condition.
