Weimar Republic. A Silesian Eagle, First Class, with Award Document.
On 16 May 1933 the Silesian Eagle award was recognized as an official award, authorized to be worn and manufactured throughout the entire period of the Third Reich. It had previously been worn only by the members of the Freikorps who was had taken part in the defense of Silesia,and then only as an unofficial award. The Silesian Eagle was instituted on 16 June 1919 by the commander of the Sixth Army Corps,Generalleutnant von Friedeburg,and was awarded in a First and Second Class.The First Class was awarded for six months service. Eagle constructed of a patinated zinc alloy,near extremely fine condition, measuring 31.41mm(w)x42.33mm(h),weighing 18.8 grams,magnetic pin.Accompanied by its award document,measuring 21cm(w) x 16.5cm(h),scarce document in excellent condition.
