The order was instituted by Adolf Hitler on May 1st, 1937,as an honorary award conferred upon notable foreigners, who were considered sympathetic to the Nazi Regime and its ideals. Second type medal with Latin script on reverse (German Merit Medal) 1943-1945. Very good condition.
