The certificate for the Bremen Hanseatic Cross is named to Hauptmann (captain) of the reserve Paul Schiffer, Battalion Leader of the 3rd Battalion of the Oldenburg Infantry Regiment No.91.It is dated to December 21,1917.Measuring 213mm(w) x 268mm(h).The Hanseatic Cross was a military decoration of the three Hanseatic sity-states of Bremen, Hamburg and Lubbock who were members of the German Empire during WW1. Each republic established its own version of the Cross, but the design and award criteria were similar for each. The Cross was awarded for merit in war, and could be awarded civilians as well. Silvered bronze, partially enameled, with separately attached central medallion. There were Approximately 20000 awards of the H.Cross of Bremen.Cross and certificate in the very good condition.
