A Mint SS 8- Year Long Service Award In Its Original Case of Issue.
A textbook example of SS 8-Year Long Service Award;in Bronze, unmarked, but these medals were produced exclusively by Deschler & Sohn of Munich and Lorenz of Unterreichenbach. The SS Long Service Awards were first introduced on 30 January 1938.Four classes of the award were designed by Professor Karl Diebitsch of Munich. 3rd Class:(8 Years Loyal Service).A bronze round medal measured 38mm. like a 4th Class both was suspended from a plain cornflower blue ribbon. It was awarded to all ranks. The reverse bore a large numeral '8' with the inscription (For Loyal Service in the SS) superimposed on it. The presentation case for the 8 Year Service Award is a black simulated leather hard case with SS Sigrunen impressed in the lid. The inside of the lid is white satin, while the lower compartment section is burgundy- colored. Award cases for the 2nd and 1st Classes are virtually identical, only slightly wider. Pushbutton and hinge magnetic, case for 3rd class medal extremely rare, we see in many instances people offer the 3rd class medal in 4th Class case.
